Tyler Perry’s latest film recounts the true story of the Central Postal Directory Battalion (“the 6888”), an all-female and all-Black battalion that served in World War II. The 6888 (or “Six Triple Eight”) was comprised of 855 women tasked with managing the postal backlog that plagued the American war effort. Starring Kerry Washington—with appearances by Oprah Winfrey, Sam Waterston, and Susan Sarandon—the film features period-accurate costumes by Karyn Wagner.
Following its release in select theaters on December 6, The Six Triple Eight will be available to stream on Netflix beginning December 20.
