The Chronology of Water is a moving portrait of author Lidia Yuknavitch, portrayed by Imogen Poots. As a young woman growing up in the 1980s, Yuknavitch escaped her abusive childhood home through swimming. The film follows her through the ups and downs of her adolescence and adulthood as she experiences love, addiction, and sexual exploration. Poots’s performance, described by Variety as “a daring high-wire act”, was aided by dialect coaching from William Conacher.
The Chronology of Water will be released in New York and Los Angeles on December 5 before expanding nationwide on January 9. Find information on theaters and showtimes here.
