Camille Benda

Costume Designers

Camille brings 25 years of knowledge and skill to costume design in film, TV and the theatre. She has an MFA from the Yale School of Drama (Theatre Design), and an MA from the Courtauld Institute in London (History of Dress). Her recent projects include costume design for Bad Sisters, a 10-part Apple TV+ series starring Sharon Horgan and Daryl McCormack. Upcoming projects include The Last Manhunt, a period feature starring Christian Camargo and Jason Momoa (November 2022).

Camille has styled numerous commercials, including those for British Airways, Nikon, Canon and Nissan, Smirnoff and Disney+. She has also designed theatre projects for Yale Repertory Theater, Rattlestick Theatre (off-Broadway) and “Bernhard/Hamlet” at the Geffen Theater.  As an assistant costume designer, Camille worked on The Golden Compass, directed by Chris Weitz, and starring Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman; and City of Ember, with Bill Murray and Saoirse Ronan starring.

Her first print book, Dressing The Resistance, published in October 2021 by Princeton Architectural Press, celebrates the role of clothing, costume and nudity in activism and protest. Camille has been asked to speak about costume history at such luminary British institutions as the The Costume Society, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Courtauld Institute. Camille has UK/US dual citizenship, and also speaks Czech.
