“THE SHROUDS” Opens Nationwide April 25

David Cronenberg’s latest film, The Shrouds, is an unsettling exploration of loss and ritual. In the near future, a wealthy businessman named Karsh (Vincent Cassell) invents a device that allows him to monitor his recently deceased wife as she lies in her coffin. One night, several graves, including his wife’s, are desecrated. Furious, Karsh sets off on a vengeful journey to bring the perpetrators to justice. The film’s sleek, yet eerie aesthetic was achieved through the efforts of production designer Carol Spier, art director Jason Clarke, and costume designer Anne Dixon. As a result, the film recently received Canadian Screen Award nominations for Achievement in Production Design and Achievement in Costume Design.

The Shrouds began with a limited released in New York and Los Angeles on April 18 and expands nationwide on April 25. Find theaters and showtimes here.
