Ann trained at Wimbledon School of Art where she earned a BA in Theatre Design and Craft.
She began her professional life working in the costume departments of the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and Glyndebourne Opera in East Sussex. Having gained a great deal of technical knowledge from working with both these companies, she went freelance as a Costume Maker and found work with TV, theatre, film, opera and ballet companies. Ann’s first film was Dangerous Liasons, for which she cut and made costumes for Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Keanu Reeves, and Peter Capaldi. She has continued to work primarily in film since then, either taking on freelance work in her own workshop, managing the workrooms in the major studios, or designing for film and TV.
Ann spent two years in New Zealand as the Costume Designer on The Hobbit film trilogy, and has recently completely The Man Who Knew Infinity, starring Jeremy Irons and Dev Patel.
